Good day,

I want to seek your advice regarding my case.

I want to ask if it is alright if I sign the birth certificate of the child of my girlfriend.

She's pregnant and due this month but I'm not the father. The father already left her long ago.

Due to many circumstances we broke up 2 years ago and just got back together recently after I've pursued her. (I already know she's pregnant when I did that.)

We are planning to get married this year. Now, I would like to take full responsibility for her child as the father. I’m planning to have the child use my surname.

Is it alright to sign the birth certificate and acknowledge the child as my own?

Thank you for your time.

that is a short cut which is not allowed by law, but i have to admit it is not the first time it will be done.

What will be the worst scenario if it's done?

As I understand, even if I signed the birth certificate for the acknowledgement of the child as my own, she will still be illegitimate.

Will she be automatically be legitimized after her mother and I got married?

if you acknowledge her then marry the mother, the child will be legitimated. you can be made liable for simulation of birth. although someone has to actually file a case against you.

Thank you so much. I'll just have to hope that the father does not return or will file a case.. Smile

God Bless you.

can someone help me with my problem.

im married to my husband who already died due to cancer...but before he died he wanted to have a child..to give his request i make a decision to have a child to other man. and then i get pregnant at naging masaya asawa ko sa natitirang buwan ng buhay nya...

pls help

neutralizing his threat is an effective way of handling this.

he has no legal recourse to make himself the father because that would remove the legitimacy of the child. only your husband could do that and he did not. even if he gets a dna test, the birt certificate is conclusive that your husband is the legal father.

report him to the police. you can charge him with stalking, but you will have to admit that you had a relationship with him before.

the person who supported you during your minor years can claim from him, but it will be difficult if he's in another country.
