Arresto Menor

I have a firearm (9mm pistol) that is "clean" - I am the only owner since purchase and firearm has never been used in any crime, misdemeanor etc.

However, my license for the firearm expired a long time ago (years ago rather than months ago).

I wish to safely, responsibly dispose of the firearm.

I would like to surrender the firearm to the local PNP. However, my worries are:

(1) carrying the firearm from my residence to the PNP with no valid license - could I technically be prosecuted if I am stopped and searched?
(2) being prosecuted upon delivery simply for retaining possession of the firearm long after expiry of the license.

I do not wish to renew my license only for the purpose of disposing of the firearm. But I do want to safely dispose of the gun.

Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks.
