Hi.

Just need a quick (or straightforward) interpretation of RA 8187.

It provides for 7 days LEAVE.

Questions crop up from time to time, mostly dealing with the duration. Are these calendar days, or working days?

IMO, these should be working days, since it's pointless to be on PL when the father is on restday (weekends, etc). How can you be on leave if you're actually not required to work on that day in the first place?

So... what is the actual interpretation or intent when the law was passed?

Hi! Just want to ask if I am entitled to paternity leave if I'm not yet a regular employee. The company manual where I work says that I am not, that I should have been with the company for atleast 1 year for me to be able to avail of this. Is this legal? Can the company dictate who should be able to avail of the paternity leave?
