Order Not Delivered Because Manager was Murdered

Arresto Menor

I hope you are still familiar with the demise of a certain Singaporean who was murdered inside his Office last year which made the news. We happened to be one of the clients who ordered from their business. We have paid in full amount but our order was not delivered because they closed office right away. It happened just one week from paying. They were supposed to deliver the unit 4 weeks from payment. We tried to communicate with the sales coordinator who can't really help and the lawyer who was tasked to close the office and see the cadaver shipped to Singapore but he was also unwilling to help even if we presented enough evidence of the legitimacy of the transaction. Apparently the real business owner is the wife, she is the registered owner of the business with DTI and her name was also reflected on the deposit slip when we made the payment. All we seek is for the refund of the amount that we paid. P96,000 is still a huge amount. The way we see it, she is the legitimate owner of the business here in the Philippines and her name was even reflected on the proposal that they sent.

What shall we do? We tried everything even personally seeing the lawyer at Makati although we are from Cebu. He stated that he was the personal lawyer of the Singaporean but not of the business itself but he was tasked to liquidate the business. But then he can't refund us the amount because our order was not transacted. Meaning the unit that we ordered was not delivered by their supplier. All he did was promise and yet now, he won't even take our call anymore. According to the news, the wife was on hiding because she was scared for her life. Now, what about our transaction? Even if she was on hiding, she was still liable for the business and her clients who trusted them. We don't just give away a huge amount of money although we are sorry for what happened, we have nothing to do with it. We have a business to run and mouths to feed too.

Can you please advice us as to where to go and what steps to make? Where do we file a case and what kind of case do we file against her? Maybe she has no plans of returning our money. It's been almost a year now.
