Hi! I'm a newbie here and i hope i could find some help 😔
if i get married in Singapore (me and my fiance are both filipinos), will it be automatically recognized in other countries (in the Philippines And also in Canada)? Or is there something we have to do or file first for that marriage to be recognized in those countries?

I hope there will be someone with a good heart that can answer me. God bless us all! 😊

Your marriage will be recognized and valid around the world the minute you submitted it to the Philippine embassy. Don't they require CENOMAR before marrying under Singapore law? Or you are avoiding to have it recorded in the Philippines because you are already married there? 10 years ago its possible but with the new technology, anything you enter in the system nowadays will be recorded and can be easily find anywhere else in the world.

Declaring single on your residency application is not a good idea! If your permanent residency got approved, you will later on have problem petitioning your spouse to join you as this will only mean that you have misinformed the immigration of your true status and it is falsification if you are already married and declared single. Your petition to your wife will be later on declined if you do this strategy. Everything is processed electronically nowadays, so it will not be difficult for them to verify your previous application and you can't marry the same person twice if you are thinking of remarrying her again later on!

Thank you for replying!

Honestly, yes. I was avoiding to have it recorded in the Philippines and hoping that it would not be recognized anywhere but in Singapore by not submitting to thr Philippine embassy. I am not married anywhere else. I am about to apply my working permit and permanent residency after 2 years and i was thinking of declaring a "single" status on my applications because they say it would be more faster to process. But we really do wanted to get married! And i've been thinking also if it's possible to submit our marriage licences to the Philippine embassy after 2 years before applying for my permanent residency (if it's really impossible to hide it from the canadian immigration) so i can declare that i'm already married. But i will still be declaring "single" status in my work permit.

I hope to get a response from you again! Really need an advice!

I looked at Singapore's Registry of Marriage website and the don't require a CENOMAR. Just passports

Why do you need to get married now? Its not advisable for you to claim single when you are already married. Upon your residence application, they require on one of the page about your whereabouts for 10 years and you are for sure to declare your residency in Singapore in which they can verify that you have been married under Singapore law on your records from Singapore immigration.
The passport that you are presenting under Singapore law during your marriage will content all your details and will be recorded on their systems and will be reported as when you are asked to provide police clearance from the country you have been for the last 10 years, this will show on their systems. So its a silly idea to go ahead with your marriage plan and falsify it later on, it will just screw you up in the end!

Actually, i'll only be visiting my fiancè in singapore just to get married. He is working there and i am currently residing here in the Philippines for almost 3 years since i worked at singapore for almost a year. We wanted to get married now because in case i see a higher chance of being approved of my permanent residency in Canada even if i'm married, then i will be declaring in mu PR application that i'm married. I know this question is a bit random, but do you think it's true that a married person has a lesser chance to be processed faster than a single person?
Thank you again for your responses, i really appreciate it!

Check this website.

It looks like you need to be living in Canada for 5 years before you can apply for residence visa.

I agree with AWV, what you want to happen is misrepresentation. If you are married, you are married. What you are planning to do will give you more problem than a solution. Which country you are applying? If Canada, US or Europe, then good luck to your plan. Their immigration procedure is air tight.

No! they are processed the same way and treated the same way single or married, so if that's your worries, no need to declare you are single when you apply for your visa. Remember if you lie on your application this is more likely for you to get denied on your the visa application. Better to be honest so when you face an interview with the immigration you are not likely to make any mistakes. Good luck!

Thank you for your advices! This is helping a lot to think clearly! I will be applying for permanent residency under live-in caregiver program. i just have to work full time as a caregiver for 2 years to be eligible for PR application. Is being married lowers the chance or slows the processing of being a permanent resident in Canada? Yun kasi sinabi ng tita ko, pag may asawa daw, mas matagal ang pagprocess sa canada ng PR. Yes, yun lang talaga ang worries ko. They are sayong that single persons are more faster to be processed than the married ones

God bless you both!

Bollocks! Tell your Tita she is just making up stuff and you are more likely to get denied with her rubbish advise.

No need to declare single, single or married upon application of your visa it not an issue after all! in fact it will be easier for you to petition him when you get your residence approved.

My tita did not advised me to falsify my civil status, she just constantly telling me that it will be much more faster to become a PR when i'm still single. That's why i came up with this idea.
What i'm planning to do now is to continue getting married and i'll inform my employer in Canada about my plans. She might give me sime advice.

God bless you! Thank you for cont. Answering me!

I didn't say that she advised you to falsify your status on your application Rolling Eyes  but she is definitely making up stories that it is faster to apply for single status than married. m11

Oh, yes, that's true! Maybe it's just from her point of view. But it's so hard for me to hear such things, lalo na at tita ko sya! She's in canada and she is currently waiting for her PR application result applied in 2011 pa, they have 2 kids and her husband failed his medical exams. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she's waiting that long for their approval. And she kept telling me about the single people who applied for PR the same time she did and they got approved fast!
Thanks again! 😊

Wow! That long? Maybe because they all did it via post mail application which is the cheapest way. There's another way to process it faster but of course it cost. But if you are willing to pay for the quick process, it can only take a couple of months the immigration themselves can offer you the service to get a personal appearance application appointment. The immigration like UKBA in my case because I am British.

That must be the only valid reason why your Tita's application took a long time to process.

she's already in Canada for 2 years when she applid for PR, under live-in caregiver program also. I'm just not sure what process did she tried to made her wait this long. or maybe Canada's processing period is way more longer in 2011 than today. I think it's 39months is the ideal processing time now.

Thank you again! i appreciate your advice. Mor power to you atty! God bless
