I am a graduating student. I need to complete my thesis before I can graduate. So I'm planning to create an Android Application which is similar to a mobile spy. Using this application, you will be able to retrieve incoming/outgoing SMS, incoming/outgoing/missed phone calls, and pictures that is stored on the phone. Now my question is, "If I pursue on developing this kind of application and release it to the public, will I commit any sort of crime?". Hoping someone could answer this question for me. Thanks Smile

I doubt it will be a crime as retrieving incoming and outgoing SMS, mis calls already existed in the UK and USA. The NBI can retrieve even a deleted photos from FB for example.
Don't release it without a buyer though, otherwise your effort will be wasted! Sell it to a company and they have the right license to launch it for you!

That's what I thought since same kind of application already exist. Though I'm not sure if this is covered by cyber law here in the Philippines. I don't intend to sell it to any company, I intend to release it as a paid app. It would be for monthly subscription.

Hmmm! You still need a lawyer to protect your right for launching it! Have it documented to ensure you're safe selling it, in case some bogus happens on people's subscriptions. There are lots of fraud online if they manage to hack your account and steal it, you should be able to prove it's yours originally if not, you have no legs to stand on for legal purposes.
