This is the case:
I was driving a mitsubishi adventure at the highway with speed of about 50-60kph. Ahead of us is a man on a bicycle at the side of the road. I blow the horn of my car so he will know i was incoming. He was not signaling nor attempting to cross the highway. There were no pedestrian lanes on sight. So i carried on with same speed. Then when he was right in front of us, he suddenly crossed the road. I was able to step on the brakes but it was too late and i hit the rear end of his bicycle making him fall out of it resulting in minor injuries (few scratches and bruises.) The police investigator took my driver's license and asked me to settle with the family of the victim. The police officer gave me a Temporary Operators Permit saying "RECKLESS IMPRUDENCE RESULTING TO PHYSICAL INJURIES". I payed for all the medical expenses and the victim went home safe and sound that same day. The victim admitted it was his fault and he and his family agreed that everything is all right and settled.
What will I do to defend my self from this case?
What will I do so that I will not be sued?
What will I do to get my driver's license back?
Will this case affect my employment chances?
Please advice!
Thank you In advance.
