May lagpas 80 years ng nakatira ang family ko dito sa lugar namin. Since time pa ng lola ko. Our whole clan actually live on this same street. I don't know the previous history of the land but recently, I was advised by my Aunt that the owner of the land is demanding that we pay a monthly rent of Php 510 per square meter. If hindi daw makabayad for 3 months, evicted na. The homeowners na kasingtagal na din naming nag i stay dito sa street is willing to pay but what we want is for us to buy the land na. Or at least rent to own. What's the current law for this? Also, anong government agency ang dapat namin lapitan? Please note, we are willing to buy the land. But not rent. Kasi napakamahal naman if Php 510 per square meters pero rent lang. Salamat.

510 per sqm per month?? that's like office space in ortigas.

there is no way for you to compel the owner to sell to you. a lease or occupation by tolerance does not ripen into any right of first refusal even if there is a long passage of time. you can only try to convince him.

try to study the history of the property. why are so many people there? are you informal settlers or squatters?

Not all renters are really interested in the property. No matter what happens, because in the end its just a rent? So they put a hole in the wall, it just means that they do not get their deposit back, and the owner has been resolved. But when someone rents a property to own it, they know more than you can handle and there..
