hello good day to everyone, I just married my wife few months ago and i knew she had a son before anything else, she has not been married ever since, but her sons surname was named after his father.

I want to adopt her son and make it my own, which is to change his surname to mine, it is also because im working abroad and may affect bringing her son along with her to live with me...

I need some advice on what has to be done and what are the process on a case like this?

and if the child is acknowledged by the father, you will need his consent. or you have to prove he abandoned the child.
