ESTAFA CASE

Hi, i just want to ask in behalf of my friend's problem. They have a busness & someone transacted with their company costing millions of php & eventually, failed to pay despite several promises. SHe had a signed invoices acknowledging her obligation and provided a check from a third person, unfortunately, all of it turn out to be on a stop payment order. This situation almost caused them to go bankrupt. They already seek legal help and a demand letter is sent. Now, they are thinking if something will happen if they pursue the estafa case since they are already suffering from their finances.
