Good day Attorney!

I also (like the others in this forum) have my name mispelled on my BC.

written on my BC is RAQUEL, and when you look into the gender, it shows male.

i didnt used the name when i started going to school. instead i used ROCQUEL, what my parents intended for me.

its the same name i used on my other documents. school records, SSS ID, pagibig account. bank account. also on my Civil Marriage certificate.

But when i tried getting a passport back in 2009 i was forced to used the one written on my BC. for the very reason it is required by DFA. and so i had one using the mispelled name.

now my question is. can i still rectify my name written on the passport? or should i first rectify the correction of entry, then return to fix my name on the passport?!

i really dont like to change my entire records for this matter...

hope you can help me.

taken from an article on Philstar website.

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino signed the new law extending the power of local civil registrars to correct errors in birth certificates without any court order.

Correcting errors in date of birth and gender in birth certificates no longer needs court approval.

Republic Act 10172, which was signed by the President last Aug. 19, amended several provisions of Republic Act 9048.

It extended the coverage of exemptions to requirement of judicial approval for correction on entries in the birth certificate.

Good day Attorney!

thank you,

Reynaldo Ocumen
