Gf's mother wants to adopt my son.

Me and my girlfriend have a son (5 months old). We separated 2 months ago because I caught her cheating on me. 2 months ago we talked in our local brgy. about our problem on who will be caring for our baby with a case worker and told me that only the biological mother can have the baby. I was devastated about the outcome. Now, I can only see my baby once a week. Even they did that to me I still support my son emotionally, physically, and financially. Now, my gf's mom wants to adopt my son so that they can take him abroad and stay there. Her family is living abroad and only stays here in the country for a few months. What should I do? I don't want to loose my son. What will be legal response to them? and Yes we are not married but my son has my surname. Thank you.

Did you recognize the child in his birth certificate, or in any written document? If yes, I believe that your consent will be necessary for the adoption process to prosper. You can contest the adoption.
