Art. 355. Libel means by writings or similar means. — A libel committed by means of writing, printing, lithography, engraving, radio, phonograph, painting, theatrical exhibition, cinematographic exhibition, or any similar means, shall be punished by prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods or a fine ranging from 200 to 6,000 pesos, or both, in addition to the civil action which may be brought by the offended party.

can the penalty (money) reach up to a hundred thousand? or more than 2 years imprisonment? thank you

it's 6 mos to 4 years. penalty is up to 6,000.

libel can be filed with 1 year. subpoenas are normally served by mail or by the PNP

Atty, nahuli ko po ang kabit at asawa ko , kinabukasan , nag complaint sa Barangay yung kabit at ako pa ang pinabarangay, nilagay Nya sa complaint is pang iiskandalo, pagmumura at pagduro duro sa kanya na Hindi naman nangyari dahil asawa ko Lang ang kinausap ko. Piña receive Nya yung Brgy. Complaint sa trabaho ko at nagbunga iyon ng kasiraan sa akin. Ako po ay nag resign Na upang Hindi na nila magulo pa. Pwede ko ba sya kasuhan ng libel ? Gusto ko rin humingi ng moral damages
