First time post here. And this is my first ever "Legal Advice" need. Smile so here goes.

I grew up with my grandparents(father side) I have been with them since I was a month old. My parents were in touch via calls and texts and every summer my grandparents would make me visit them in the province. So I practically grew up with my grandparents as my parents and I've never been close to my "real family". From financial support to moral and emotional, everything i needed was provided by my grandparents. They treated me like their own. Recently, or rather a few years back, I found out that my real parents are swindlers and con people. They've been doing pretty bad stuff ever since. But that's not the issue.

Is there any way that I can not use my mother's name on my name? Cause having her name (or even that initial only) is such a disgrace to me. I don't want to be their daughter. though the family name im using is same as my grandparent's, I still don't want to have or use her middle name. So can I just drop it? Or what do I have to do to be able to not use it? Like hearings and stuff? or like papers to be signed? HELP!

no, you cannot officially drop it, but there's nothing stopping you from dropping it in public. but you have to use it for legal documents.

the sins of the father follow, but are not that of the son. same with daughters.
