shoplifting

Hi - I was caught/accused of shoplifting last week because I have so may items to buy and there was no shopping basket that i placed an item inside my bag but completely forgot about it when i payed in the counter. I was brought inside a room where they got my name and address and when i tried to explain to them that i did not intended to slip it but simply forgot it since I am really very forgetful, they asked me to pay 5000 vs the amount of the item which is only 300 plus. they asked me to draft an explanation letter and let me go.
Question: What do i expect to happen next? what about my records for travel and employment?
