i already filed a petition for clerical error and change of name for my birth certificate. I already got a copy of the petition from the LCR. Is it enough for passport application as an attachment for ny birth certificate or i still need to wait for the copy of the petition coming from NSO?

that will depend on the dfa. if the petition was approved, then the lcr copy should be good enough, but you'll have to wait if they require the nso copy.

Thank u for the reply sir. Would you know if the DFA accepts the approved petition from LCR for passport application?

from my experience, it all depends on who among the staff checks your documents.

hello

was new in this site! i have the same problem regarding my name in my nso. ang name ko talagang ginagamit meralyn since i was in grade school, i am 29 now...last year kumuha ako nso to get passport then saka ko lang nalaman na merry-an pala nkalgay dun. ang gusto ko gamiting name ay ung alam kong name ko since yon po ang lahat na nasa mga requirements ko at docs and isa medyo kakaiba ung name na merry-an. gusto ko lang po malaman kong magkano po ba mag pa publish sa newspaper about that? and pwede dito ko ba yun gawin sa manila kahit ipinanganak ako sa province namin? at gaano po talaga katagal ang process ng change of name before i can get a copy incase ma okay ung petition ko?

thanks and hoping for your reply pls...

you have to file a court petition to change your name. unfortunately, the rules require you to file at the place where your certificate was filed.

cost of publication depends on which newspaper it was raffled off to. it can be about P5-10K. try to haggle to make it small

it takes about a year.
