Oral Defamation through Text Messaging and Facebook

Helo po...thanks for this page. I would like to ask advise about this case. My exboyfriend texted my co workers that I underwent abortion which is not true. How could I abort with out having sex with somebody else. Even in facebook, he sent messages to our common friends telling the same story. This happened after 7 months of our break up which he cannot accept until now! He also admitted that he will stop this "paninira kapag mamatay na raw sya". I just want to give him lesson for what he is doing. He tried to ruin my reputations to my co workers and friends. My first decision is to ignore it because it is not true.., but since I am a public figure I have to protect ng reputation. What will I do? I looking forward for your benevolent advise...Thank you so much.

that is libel because it is written and because others read it, it is considered published. you will need your friends to issue affidavits about the text messages they received and you have to prove that it came from your ex-bf. same thing with the fb messages.

you consider yourself a public figure? don't use that term because public figures are afforded less rights to privacy and protection.
