Hi, i reapply for a passport to use my maiden name. i am married and have been separated for 6yrs now. i want to use my maiden name to any transactions. but then dfa found out that i have a current passport that under my married name. they are now asking me for a explanation letter for them to continue the process of my passport. wbut then again, my married name will be used on the issuance of my passport.
May i have guidance on how to create a latter explaining my status

you cannot just change your surname to maiden name just because you got separated. the court has to dissolve your marriage first in order for you to legally do that.

what letter is that? you don't need to write to DFA for this request. you just need to submit the requirements to prove that your marriage has been nullified.
