First off, a disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer nor trained in legal matters. So, please don't take me seriously. Hehehe.
I believe there's no limit as how many ammendments you can do in your ammended articles of incorporation. As long as it was lawfully voted for and certified by the corporate secretary. It is, however, still subject to approval by SEC. There are grounds for rejection but most of them are due to violations. So, if the ammendments are done in good faith, I believe you don't have to worry.
Yes, you can change the name and change your purpose.
