Hi atty,

I was planning to file child support against the father of my child, since he did not acknowledge my son and sign the birth certificate I was advised that he and my son need to go through DNA testing that would cost 30,000.00 - 50,000.00, my question is should I send him a demand letter first and if I do not receive a response is it the only time i can file the case? I have photos and letter from him before that he is aware that I am pregnant and that he is the father since he is the only man in my life and am I the one responsible in paying the cost for DNA test? and if the DNA result proved that he is the father will the court oblige him to pay me back the money since im just thinking of borrowing? and how long does it usually take for child support cases to resolved in courts? and if I opted to be represented by PAO do I still need to provide certificate of Indigency because what I know is that PAO accept cases for RA 9262. I would appreciate your feedback on this matter. Thank you

Hi,

Yes, you can send him a demand letter first before filing a complaint if you prefer that.

It can take a few months if masettle niyo through a compromise agreement. if not, it can take a few years. Yes, you can go to PAO and bring all the pieces of evidence that you have as of the moment. But yes, you have to provide a certificate of indigency.
