Hi! Good Day! Ask ko lng if is it possible na makapag file kami ng asawa ko ng petition for adoption kahit nasa abroad sya? The adoptee is my daughter and my husband is not her biological father. The case is I had a child with my ex boyfriend and my ex didn't recognize our child. So sa birth certificate ng anak ko ang nakalagay sa Father's info is unknown. Now that I am already married, my hubby wants to adopt my child legally. Is there any ways to pursue the adoption even if he's not here? He's working abroad kc. Thanks for the reply! Smile

The Philippines has specific requirements that a child must meet in order to be eligible for adoption. You cannot adopt a child in The Philippines unless he or she meets the requirements. the requirements are also different in case where the adopter is a foreigner.

Eligibility is irrelevant! Of course he can adopt your daughter as he is your husband and he is adopting your own child if it is someone else's you may have a problem. This procedure is easier because the father is not involve in her birth certificate! All you have to do is get a lawyer to process the adoption for him. He will then need to come in person for final procedure and sign the adoption papers when it's finalised.
