Good morning!
I need your expert opinion on my case.
I have Bankard credit card account way back 1998. On that same year, I settled my entire bill directly in the Bankard's office in Ayala (within the Allied Bank bldg.). Later, Bankard was acquired by another bank (PCI). And then I started receiving mails from law firm that I have an unsettled account with Bankard. At that time, I have no idea about certificate of closure, etc. All I did was paid it in the Bankard's office and then they cut my card in front of me (as that was the procedure before). I told the firm that I've already paid my account way back and that they should double check their records. Later, Bankard was acquired by Equitable and now by RCBC.
Now, I'm being haunted by the same situation where I'm being asked to pay some amount due to unpaid debt and interests.
As for the letter, they will be filing a Sum of Money Case. I don't have the receipt anymore of my full payment because it was more than 10 years back. However, I have a good outstanding credit records in Citibank, BDO, EastWest, Metrobank. They can check those banks and they will see that I'm a good payor/creditor.
Is there a remedy to this case? What if Bankard has an old database and they're haunting those who have paid their debts already?
Hoping for your advice the soonest.
Thanks and more power!
