Hi, I'm a public school teacher. Unfortunately, I experienced being orally defamed by my school principal in a recent Parent-Teacher Assembly attended by more than 4,000 people.

On the said occasion, she (the school principal) deliberately caused a scene that hugely mortified me. She asked the teachers by grade level to go upstage for them to be introduced to the parents. She then called on the teachers’ names individually. When it was our grade level’s turn to be introduced, there were four male teachers including me. She then said and I quote, “Meron tayong tatlong gwapong mga guro sa grade level na ito. Tatlong lalaking guro. Totoong lalaki talaga. Si Mr. (name of teacher 1), si Mr. (name of teacher 2)at si Mr. (name of teacher 3). At ang pinakamaganda naming guro, Miss (my name). Maganda yan sya.”

I have never felt so humiliated in my entire life. I thought she was trying to make the people laugh at my expense. This has immensely affected me as a person, as an active member of our church and above all, as a professional teacher. I don’t have the same eagerness to go back to school to work as my students and their parents were there watching. The incident also caused an argument between me and my girlfriend because it apparently reached her knowledge. It has also affected my family.

I've already sent a letter of complaint to our Division office. We are to face each other anytime soon. I wonder if the incident could be a basis for my school principal to be suspended or transferred. I feel like I can't co-exist with her any longer. I might not be able to compose myself when I bump into her in school. I want her to apologize publicly and be transferred to another school. I plan to file a lawsuit against her if DepEd decides not to suspend or transfer her.

Aside from me being humiliated by her, I thought she also put the SPED students and their parents(those with disabilities) in embarrassing situation. When she introduced the SPED teachers to the parents, she said, "Sila ang mga teachers ng mga batang may mga malalaki ang ulo." I saw how dismayed the faces of the teachers and the parents were.

Now I wonder how she has reached her status being a School Principal III. She doesn't even know the word "respect".
